Absolute positioning of the elevator car for travel heights up to 392 m.
The contactless absolute measuring system for shaft copying – also called shaft information or positioning system – has an extremely compact, very robust design. In addition to the sensor, which detects the position of the elevator car 100% slip-free, this also includes the right evaluation unit, the so-called Position Supervisor Unit, or PSU for short. With the Safe System, consisting of SIL3-certified sensor and matching evaluation unit, elevator and safety functions can be realized according to EN 81-20/21/50.
Fields of application
In addition to the elevator industry, the linear measuring systems for absolute position and speed measurement can also be used in numerous other applications. Thanks to the SIL3-certified sensors, in combination with the appropriate evaluation unit, numerous safety functions can be realized in addition to precise positioning.

Elevator industry
- Slip-free position and speed monitoring
- Realization of safety functions
- Electronic overspeed governor
- Digitalization of elevator systems

Sensors - reliable detection of position and speed values
Kübler offers various sensors for this purpose. The Ants LEB02 is used as a classic shaft copying system for precise positioning of the elevator car. The SIL3-certified Ants LES02 and Ants LES03 sensors can also be combined with various evaluation units from Kübler. The sensors from Kübler are particularly characterized by their compact and robust design.
Evaluation units - safe processing of position and speed values
In addition to sensors for safe position and speed detection, Kübler also offers the corresponding evaluation units.
Safe systems - realization of safety functions
By combining sensor and evaluation unit, safety functions can be implemented in accordance with EN 81-20/21/50. Kübler Safe Systems therefore make a significant contribution to the digitalization of elevator systems. Numerous mechanical components such as limit switches or even the classic overspeed governor can be eliminated. This saves space, time and costs.

Digitization of the shaft installation
Realization of elevator and safety functions - Elimination of mechanical components
Conventional elevator system – mechanical components
In conventional elevator systems, detecting the position of the elevator car and the resulting triggering of safety functions involves a great deal of effort. Numerous mechanical components from magnetic flags to limit switches and ramps are used for this purpose. This leads to high installation, maintenance and cost efforts. In the event of a malfunction, troubleshooting can be correspondingly time-consuming.
In this design, the high safety requirements for elevator systems are mainly met by redundant components. With the entry into force of EN 81-20/21/50, the safety requirements for passenger and freight elevators have increased even further. The design of conventional elevator systems is therefore becoming even more complex.
(1) Mechanical overspeed governor
(2) Inspection switch
(3) Emergency limit switch
(4) Delay control
(5) Door zone monitoring
(6) Flush door position
(7) Mechanical trigger of the safety gear
(8) Tensioning device for overspeed governor
(9) Switch for slack rope monitoring (governor rope)

Modern elevator installation with LES02 / PSU02
With the digital shaft copying system Safe-System LES02 / PSU02 from Kübler, many of these mechanical components are replaced.
The SIL3-certified sensor detects the position of the elevator car and forwards this data for evaluation. The SIL3 certified evaluation unit (Position Supervisor Unit) PSU02 processes the sensor data for the implementation of numerous elevator and safety functions according to EN 81-20/21/50.
(1) Kübler evaluation unit PSU02 (in the switch cabinet)
(2) Kübler evaluation unit PSU02 (alternatively at the elevator car)
(3) Kübler sensor LES02
To the Safe System LES02 / PSU02

Perfectly suited for modernization projects
By combining the Ants LES03 sensor with the SGT02 Safety Gear Trigger, the classic mechanical speed limiter can be replaced. This saves time and costs.
The safe position and speed detection in combination with the taught rated speed of the elevator system means that, in addition to the traditional functions of an overspeed governor, requirements of EN 81-21 can also be covered. The safe system triggers the release of the electromechanical safety gear..
In addition to triggering, this is also monitored and can be reset. In addition, both the safe position and speed values of the control system are available to implement classic tasks of a shaft copying system, such as positioning the car.

Modern elevator installation with digital components
Kübler Safe-System LES03 / SGT02 / PSU02
With the digital Shaft copying system Safe-System LES03 / SGT02 / PSU02 from Kübler these mechanical components are replaced. This saves time and costs.
The SIL3-certified LES03 sensor detects the position and speed of the elevator car and transmits this data for evaluation. With this safe data, the Safe Gear Trigger SGT02 takes over the traditional functions of an overspeed governor. The Safe system triggers the release of the electromechanical safety gear. In addition to the triggering, this is also monitored and can be reset.
The SIL3-certified evaluation unit (Position Supervisor Unit) PSU02 processes the sensor data for the implementation of numerous elevator and safety functions according to EN 81-20/21/50.
This allows functions such as emergency limit switches, delay control, door override or inspection switches to be implemented in the case of a shortened shaft head or shaft pit in accordance with EN 81-21.
The avoidance of unintentional car movements (UCM) as well as the installation of refuge spaces for assembly and maintenance are also possible.

All components for mounting in one kit
Installing a digital shaft copying system in elevator shafts has never been this easy. In contrast to conventional systems on the market, installation is child's play.
For error-free and fast assembly, the Ants shaft copying systems mounting kit includes all the parts you need:
(1) Rail fastening shaft head (with mounting material)
(2) Carabiners
(3) Sensor cabin fastening
(4) Securing band
(5) Tension spring
(6) Rail fastening shaft pit (with mounting material)
To the mounting kits

Mounting code band
(1) In the shaft head: Use the snap hook to hang the coded band into the slot of the rail mounting. Be careful with the lateral alignment of the holes in the coded band. Follow the illustration on the name plate of the sensor. Follow the installation instructions on the coded band packaging (in 6 languages).
(2) The coded band unrolls from its cardboard packaging during downward travel.

Mounting tension spring & securing band
At the shaft pit:
(1) Fit the rail mounting.
(2) Hook the tension spring and securing band into the snap nook and connect to the rail mounting (same slot as in shaft head).
(3) Cut coded band to length and use the snap hook to connect it to the tension spring and securing band.

Maximum flexibility
Connect sensor to the car mounting and adjust optimally (three possible mounting types in 90° steps). Maximum compactness: Whether with mounting plate or T-slot, the system is suitable for the narrowest installation spaces.

Teach-in of the rated speed into the LES03 sensor via configuration strips
To implement an electronic overspeed governor by combining the LES03 sensor with the SGT02 Safety Gear Trigger, the rated speed of the elevator system must first be taught into the sensor.
The configuration strip for the respective rated speed is inserted into the LES03 sensor during commissioning. An LED visualizes the respective taught-in rated speed with a flashing pattern. In this way, the certifying agency can also validate the configuration at any time.
Corresponding configuration strips are available for different rated speeds.

Refuge space installation (Shield Modus)
Shield Mode Installation ensures a refuge space for the employees even before the elevator is put into operation.
During scaffoldless installation, such as rail fastening, a refuge space is created sequentially according to the progress of the installation. Depending on the position, the car is secured with a tolerance of ± 5 cm.

Safety functions Operation
UCM (Unintended Car Movement)
If the car leaves unintended a defined door zone with open doors the safety circuit will be open respectively the electromechanical safety gear will be triggered.
Overspeed
Elimination of the mechanical overspeed governor: In case of overspeed the safety circuit will be open respectively the electromechanical safety gear will be triggered by the Kübler Safe System.

Refuge space maintenance (Shield Modus)
Before entering the shaft with reduced shaft head / pit acc. to EN 81-21, the Shield Mode Maintenance will be activated via the door release. A refuge space that enables safe working for the maintenance employees is created.
A protective space that enables safe working for maintenance personnel is automatically established based on the highest or lowest position approached.
