Efficient, non-contact position measurement in industrial applications

Magnetic length measuring systems

In a linear magnetic measuring system, the sensor system, also known as a scanning head or sensor, is guided contactlessly over a coded magnetic tape. You can choose between incremental and absolute sensors. The measuring system is insensitive to dust, chips and moisture and is resistant to many liquids and oils. Various interfaces are available for the respective applications. Kübler always provides you with the optimum sensor technology for your application.

Robust. Reliable. Flexible.

  • Versatile - incremental and absolute
  • Robust sensor technology - protection class IP69k
  • Maximum flexibility - programmable sensors
  • Time and cost savings - simple installation

Which measuring system for your application?

Inkrementale Messsysteme bestimmen durch das Zählen von Impulsen über eine passende Steuerung die tatsächliche Position bzw. den zurückgelegten Weg.

Incremental

Incremental measuring systems determine the actual position or the distance traveled by counting pulses via a suitable controller. In a magnetic length measuring system, the pole changes on the magnetic tape are evaluated and intermediate values are interpolated.

Absolute Messsysteme bestimmen anhand eines eindeutigen Codemusters die jeweilige Position.

Absolute

Absolute measuring systems use a unique code pattern to determine the respective position. In contrast to an incremental system, an absolute measuring system does not require a reference run. In the event of a power failure, the current position is available immediately after switching on again.

Incremental magnetic length measuring systems

Our incremental measuring systems each consist of a sensor and the matching magnetic tape.
The programmable version is available for maximum flexibility.

For high signal quality

For high demands on signal quality, we recommend the Kübler
magnetic length measuring system Kübler LIM200 and the programmable variant Kübler LIM2000 with a pole length of 2 mm. For maximum performance, a stable installation process that allows an air gap of up to 1 mm is crucial.

Without compromising signal quality or performance

If the application requires a larger air gap - up to a maximum of 2 mm - we recommend our Kübler LIM500 magnetic length systems and the programmable Kübler LIM5000 variant with a pole length of 5 mm.

For larger assembly tolerances

Absolute magnetic length measuring systems

The measuring system consists of a sensor and the corresponding magnetic tape.
No reference run is necessary with the absolute length measuring system.
Magnetisches Längenmesssystem Absolut: Auflösung 1 μm, Messlänge max. 8 m,

Application examples

Medical technology

In the field of medical technology, magnetic length measuring systems from Kübler are used in applications such as laboratory and analysis technology, operating tables and treatment tables. They record values that are required for precise positioning. In addition to good resolutions, the sensors are particularly impressive due to their extremely compact design.

Thermal solar systems

Solar systems are an important part of our infrastructure and relevant for a successful energy transition. The measuring systems used to control the mirrors used in these systems must be able to withstand the most diverse and harshest environmental conditions. Magnetic measuring systems from Kübler are both compact and extremely robust. For example, they are perfectly suited for use in CSP parabolic trough systems. An index pulse available on the magnetic tape allows the position to be quickly referenced after a failure or maintenance work. The aim is to harvest the maximum amount of solar energy at any time of day and convert it into electrical energy. Thanks to the non-contact technology, the measuring system is 100 % maintenance-free and therefore extremely durable.

Woodworking

In woodworking machines and systems, magnetic measuring systems from Kübler are used in applications such as edge sanding machines, log band saws, saw tables, sliding table saws, drilling centers, coordinate drilling machines and overhead pendulum saws. This always involves detecting positions in order to be able to saw off boards to the correct length, for example. In addition to the good resolutions, the sensors are particularly impressive due to their extremely compact and robust design. Magnetic length measuring systems are often used in combination with Kübler counters or displays from the Codix series.

Glass processing

In the field of glass processing, magnetic measuring systems from Kübler are used in the areas of glass cutting, glass grinding, glass handling and glass printing. Here, the position values are recorded that are required for cutting glass panes to length or implementing drilling patterns, among other things. In addition to the good resolutions, the sensors are particularly impressive due to their extremely compact and robust design.
