Principles of Leadeship
Managers have unique leverage. One task of every manager and executive is to empower, support, challenge and encourage employees. Our managers ensure that employees understand our mission statement and act accordingly.Leaders are role models through their actions and behavior; they act consistently and follow our values.
Managers lead their employees with a clear customer focus. They work energetically to gain and maintain the trust of customers. In doing so, they keep the interests of our company in mind and do not act one-dimensionally.
Managers care. They are measured by their ability to implement – across divisions. They act on behalf of the entire company, not just their own teams. They think long-term and do not sacrifice long-term value for short-term results.
Managers inspire their teams to be innovative and inventive. They give open spaces and find ways to simplify. They look for new ideas everywhere and are not constrained by “can't do”. Instead, they act according to the credo “it works if and because”.
Leaders are never done learning and are always trying to improve. They take their teams on a journey to find new opportunities and act to test them. “I do” replaces “you should”.
Managers engage the best, not only professionally but also in terms of their personal attitude. They recognize talent and promote it.
Managers ensure that mistakes are allowed in order to learn from them. They prevent errors from being passed down or up. And they ensure that problems are fixed where they arise.
Managers understand what the future requires of us and where we need to go. They create and communicate bold scenarios that generate profitable growth results.
Managers live the principle that cost awareness promotes ingenuity and inventiveness. They set priorities accordingly.
Leaders listen carefully, speak openly and treat others with respect. They practice self-criticism, even if this is unpleasant. They are willing to change and demand it. They can take criticism at eye level. They measure themselves and their teams against the best. Praise and recognition signal appreciation for employees as well as for managers.
Managers face up to situations and are not satisfied with half successes. Acting with goals and results in mind, managers are resolute in leading. Once decisions have been made, they are supported at all levels.
Managers are not only committed to the company, but also to the personal success of their employees as well as their physical and mental health. They act with empathy, enjoy their work and make it easy for others to have fun. Leaders ask themselves: Are my employees growing? Are they empowered? Are they ready for what’s coming?
