Kübler is expanding its sensor technology portfolio with a new magnetic kit encoder based on a diametrical magnet, which can be integrated directly onto the motor shaft or into the housing thanks to its compact design. An additional shielding plate protects the system from magnetic stray fields, such as those caused by engine brakes.

The encoders are available in two absolute versions:

  • Singleturn: provides a unique position for each angular position, which is retained even after a loss of voltage.
  • Multiturn: enables detection over several revolutions. The integrated energy harvesting technology stores the number of revolutions without an external power supply.

With high accuracy, flexible interfaces, and robust magnetic field sensors, the new kit encoder is suitable for a wide range of applications in drive and automation technology.

How it works

When the diametrical magnet rotates, the magnetic field changes in the plane of rotation. Magnetic sensors detect the magnetic field direction of the magnet.
The exact angle of rotation is then calculated from the signal processing—with a resolution of several thousand steps per revolution.

In multiturn systems, an integrated energy harvesting chip counts the revolutions and stores them even if the power supply is briefly interrupted.
