Magic Bus is a great children and young people aid organisation working at sport and experience education level founded 10 years ago in Mumbai. Everything started with an old bus and a group of committed people who brought children from the roads and slums of the metropolis to a sports ground or in the nature and offered them a day full of games, discoveries and positive experiences.

In the course of time, this became a curriculum extending over several years, which deals in weekly sessions particularly with the areas of education, health and gender. Today, the Magic Bus reaches about 150,000 children in whole India. The programme is implemented on site by almost 3,000 voluntary Community Sports Coaches.

In the meantime, the positive results of the Magic Bus programme became visible:

  • More than 75% of the Magic Bus children, who did not go to school, start attending school regularly in the course of the programme.
  • More than 2/3 of the participants in the programme change their hygiene behaviour and take part on their own initiative in cleaning actions in their neighbourhood; some times, the Magic Bus children even initiate clean-up campaigns on their own in their towns.
  • Almost all programme participants show a modified awareness with respect to the dangers of drug consumption (sniffing, chewing tobacco, alcohol, etc.)
  • The proportion of girls in the programmes increased from 4% in the beginning to 44% today.
  • More than 90% of the participants recognise the equality of the leading abilities of girls and boys, and show this in their reciprocal respect to each other.
  • More than 80% of the participants who followed the whole curriculum enrolled in the occupation placement programme of Magic Bus.
  • More than half of the former participants declare that, because of Magic Bus, they believe in a chance to manage building up themselves a professional career; 40% of them are female participants.

The sponsoring membership of Kübler Group gives 20 children of the federal state Andhra Pradesh a place in the Magic Bus, week after week and year after year.

Clifton Rajesh Grover, responsible of Magic Bus in Germany, declares: "Until 2014, we want to be able to give 1 million children a place in a Magic Bus programme, and thank to the commitment of partners such as Kübler Group, we are coming closer step by step to this ambitious goal. Many thanks!"
