General Information

In general Slip rings are used to transmit power, signal or data from a stationary to a rotating platform. The transmission between the stator and rotor takes place via sliding contacts and is extremely reliable. The construction of a Slip ring is modular and offers the greatest flexibility in a variety of applications.

A Slip ring can be used in many diverse industry sectors; they transmit electrical load current, signals or data (also pneumatic or hydraulic, on request) from a stationary to a rotating platform. The transmission between the stator and rotor units takes place via sliding contacts (for current up to 40 A) and is extremely reliable.

Fieldbus signals such as Profibus, CANopen® etc. can be transmitted at up to 12MB. The modular system construction offers the highest degree of flexibility in a wide variety of applications

Kübler is launching a new generation of Slip ring onto the market with its two models IST-SR085 and IST-SR060 (dimensions: ø 85mm and 60mm); these combine technical innovation with the product quality and compact size for which Kübler is renowned.

In addition, the Safety-Trans™-Design with its two-cavity system for load and signal transmission offers a further special feature. Furthermore the Safety-Trans™ construction of the springs guarantees reliable transmission, even when subjected to a high level of vibration.

Application areas for a Slip ring:
  • Packaging machines
  • Textile machines
  • robots and handling equipment
  • Cranes
  • Fairground rides
  • Bottling plants
  • Rotary tables
